Alexander from Pennsylvania
Age: 13Profile:

Diagnosed at age five, 13-year-old Alexander now uses a pump, and although it makes life easier, he still finds it difficult to manage his disease on his own. He loves to play electric guitar, read, do magic tricks, and play tennis. He’d like to have a career in music, and is in the process of writing a book. He has won more than six awards for raising more than $1,000 for research toward a cure for type 1, and has appeared on Comcast newsmaker and in his local newspaper. As a delegate, Alexander wants to raise awareness across the country for every kid that is affected by diabetes. “The U.S. congress should support this cause so that kids like me don’t have to struggle with this disease every day. I know that if we all unite, we can take down diabetes.”
