Jada from Ohio
Profile:

Starting kindergarten last year was a big challenge for Jada. At the age of 5, she struggles on a daily basis to maintain adequate glucose levels and to understand what she can eat, things she can do, and why she can't have the same treats her classmates enjoy. "How do you explain to a 5-year-old that she can only consume 50 carbs at each meal?" her mother, Tracey, asks. It's been a struggle for Tracey, as well, who is a Desert Storm veteran and an active member of the U.S. Air Force Reserves, but now finds herself in the biggest fight of her life. "My biggest fear is that one day I won't be able to afford healthcare for Jada," she says. "These children are our future. Let's create freedom from this disease."
