Because her grandfather and aunt have the disease, she knew about checking blood sugar and insulin shots—she just never thought she’d have to do it too. Profile: A competitive swimmer, Tanner was the 2008 Ohio champion in both the 50 and 100-meter butterfly. “When I achieve a goal or place first at a swimming or track/cross country meet, I look and say wow! To know that I have dealt with all the carb counting, constant blood sugar checking, and the constant worrying, it all pays off.

Trevor spends most of his time playing team sports like baseball, football, basketball, and swimming. He would like to be a major league baseball player, or a doctor that takes care of kids with diabetes.
