William, who enjoys soccer and basketball, also builds model rockets and collects radio-controlled cars and trains. He loves working with animals, aviation, and history. He would like to become an investor or a Navy SEAL, and to fly a plane one day. Diagnosed at age four, he nevertheless remembers the ease of life before his diagnosis. Now he uses an insulin pump. He spoke at a JDRF Gala and to his congressman on the importance of stem cell research. His Walk team, Wild Will’s Walkers, has raised thousands of dollars for JDRF. “I hope to tell Members of Congress what it is like to have diabetes and convince them to give money to cure the disease. I also hope to learn more about how government works and to use what I learn to raise more money for a cure.”
