Profile: Since she was two years old, Rena has had to live with her diagnoses of type 1 diabetes. She uses an insulin pump and a continuous glucose monitor, which has given her much more freedom, but she still has to endure needles. The day she started wearing the pump, her parents bought her a frozen Coca Cola—she had tasted Coke, but had never had one of her own. Her mom relates that nothing could have made her happier.
