Curtis from Minnesota
Profile:

When Curt and his brother were diagnosed with type 1 diabetes two weeks apart, their mom took leave from her job as a teacher so somebody would be home to take care of the boys full time. Both parents decided that rather than sitting around and being angry, they would become active to raise awareness about the disease and funds for research. Curt, 6, enjoys swimming, playing basketball, and soccer. He is proficient on his skateboard and, like Abe, is fast on downhill skis. Curt is proud of the Good Citizenship Award he received at school, that he is learning to read and that he can get himself ready in the morning. "I want to tell the people in Washington that I don't like having diabetes," he says.
