Albert from Michigan

Age: 17

Profile:

Albert was diagnosed with type 1 when he was four. At 13 he started using an insulin pump. He was a delegate and a volunteer at the 2005 and 2007 Children’s Congresses, and is part of the student government and a member of a peer resource group at his school. His personal goal, as a delegate this year, is to be able to spread the message of the necessity of finding a cure for type 1 diabetes. “In order to even hope to eliminate a disease we need funding from the government to support research. A cure would help all kids, and especially those who can’t afford good care. Then they could stop worrying about paying for all of their diabetes supplies.”
