Bryton from Maryland
Profile:

Bryton was diagnosed three years ago at the age of 2, and his world was turned upside down. He is thankful that he has "really great parents" who have worked hard to keep his disease under control. Now 5, Bryton enjoys gymnastics, soccer, and swimming, and dreams of someday becoming a superhero, firefighter, policeman, or marine. For the last three years, he and his family have been very active in fundraising for research and lobbying on behalf of research. They participate in the JDRF Walk in Baltimore, and Bryton and his mom testified at the Maryland Senate hearings in support of a bill encouraging stem cell research in the state. "I want to no longer be the 'boy with diabetes,'" he says. "I want to be Bryton."
