Camryn from Massachusetts
Age: 9Profile:

Camryn was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when she was five years old, but she hasn’t let it stop her. Her favorite activity is horseback riding, which she has been doing since. She also likes swimming, drawing, and writing, and may want to be a writer one day, or, because of her love of public speaking, a motivational speaker or lawyer. In 2007, Camryn won second place in the PBS Young Author’s and Illustrator’s Contest for her book Camryn and Her Mighty Insulin Pump. She also won the Amherst, MA Human Rights Award for her fundraising work. As a delegate, she hopes to show Members of Congress that kids with type 1 diabetes are everyday kids who have to work extra hard to stay healthy, and to ask them for their help funding research towards finding a cure.
