Lexi from Illinois

Profile:

Twelve-year-old Lexi was proud of how she could give herself shots from the time she left the emergency room. Having seen her little sister, Cole, take care of diabetes for years, Lexi had always thought she wouldn't be able to handle it. But handle it she does. Lexi loves to play hockey and recently became team captain. "I want to be an amazing hockey player and go to the Olympics for the USA," she says. Her other aspirations are to be a good leader and friend, to put her health ahead of other things, and to help cure diabetes. Lexi says her family's motto is "Focus and finish--then you'll get to the happy ending." They're focusing their energies on finding the cure and finishing diabetes forever.
