Profile: Nine months after being diagnosed with diabetes, Alexandra, who had felt like the disease controlled her life, felt like she was beginning to control the disease. When she was in the hospital, she received a blanket that someone had donated. It had made her feel so much better that she wanted to do that for other kids who were sick. She started making and donating blankets to the hospital where she had been.

She has refused to let her disease stop her. A member of the freshman and JV volleyball teams, Lizzie is also a student council representative, and hopes to be a fashion designer one day. She also started her own jewelry business called Bella Beads.
