Paige from Georgia
Profile:

Even though she was only 6 when she was diagnosed, Paige was testing her own blood sugar and giving herself shots before she left the hospital. She knows that if she takes good care of herself, she can undertake any activity she chooses. Her favorite is horseback riding. She's been on the President's List every semester (straight A's!), and she was chosen to participate in an educational website design competition. Her suggestion to make diabetes the main topic was adopted. At 10, Paige says, "There are a lot more kids getting diabetes now. When I was diagnosed, I was the only kid in my grade. Now there are 13 kids in school and nine in my neighborhood. No more kids should get it. We need the help of Congress!"
