Spencer from Florida
Profile:

Spencer was diagnosed in 2000, when he was 6 years old. Now 13, he's proud of the fact that he's never had to be hospitalized. That year, he attended the Florida Diabetes Camp for the first time, and has returned every year since. He hopes to be a volunteer counselor there, and ultimately become an engineer. An honor student since the first grade, Spencer plays league soccer and enjoys chess, bicycle and go-ped riding, basketball, paintball and swimming. He's involved in the youth group at his church, sings in his school chorus, and performs in school plays. He participates in the JDRF Walk, has spoken to school groups and newly-diagnosed children about diabetes, and wants our lawmakers to know how expensive diabetes is for familie -- both financially and emotionally.
