Hannah from Florida
Profile:

At 13, Hannah has been a cheerleader for the last five years and wants to be newscaster when she grows up. Those two interests may account for her tireless efforts to raise awareness about type 1 diabetes. Diagnosed when she was 5, Hannah has spoken about the disease to school classes, her entire church, and civic groups, and has lead Hannah's Heroes each year at the JDRF Walk. She has attended presentations by leading researchers. "Although I don't always understand everything they're doing, I know they're working tirelessly to find a cure for me and for other children like me," she says. When she's not busy learning about and speaking out for JDRF or "flying" through the air as a cheerleader, she enjoys boating, water skiing, wake-boarding, knee-boarding and tubing.
