Sedrick from Connecticut

Profile:

Sedrick, 14, comes from a family in which diabetes has affected many members. His mother wears an insulin pump, and his uncle and grandfather take injections like Sedrick does. Luckily, his parents, whom he calls his "Guardian Angels," watch over him closely and help him manage his disease. Sedrick likes all kinds of sports and runs on his school's cross-country team. He enjoys drawing in his spare time and would like to go into graphics someday and specialize in cartoon animation. He received the Presidential Educational Excellence Award in 2004. Sedrick has participated in the Promise to Remember Me campaign and volunteered with the local JDRF chapter. The family participates in the JDRF Walk as Sedrick's Angels, and Sedrick hopes to hold a separate walk at school.
