Caroline from Connecticut
Profile:

When Caroline, 17, began to display symptoms of diabetes eight years ago, her parents feared right away what was wrong--her older sister, Caitlin, had been diagnosed with diabetes years before. After that, late-night bedroom conversations between the two girls turned from boys, makeup, and clothes to the burden of the disease and the fears they both shared. At school Caroline plays tennis and volleyball, is on the honor roll, and was named to Ludlowe Leaders, the school's youth leadership council. Caroline participates every year in the JDRF Walk, and for nearly 15 years her family has hosted a golf tournament to raise money for JDRF. She is now urging Members of Congress to do their part.
