Madison from California
Profile:

Just because she has diabetes, Madison says, doesn't mean she isn't like other kids. "I have braces like many other kids, I go to school every day, and I do my homework every day. I was on a soccer team (twice!), I'm on the Ceres Dolphins swim team, and I'm trying out for the basketball team." She's 10, and has lived with diabetes for six years. Her dad stopped working to care for her, while her mom started a fundraiser at work In 2004, Madison and her family visited their U.S. Representative as part of JDRF's Promise to Remember Me campaign. "I want to be part of the cure," she says. "I want to tell as many people as I can about diabetes."
