Kaden's mother says that it has been the emotional changes after his diagnosis three years ago--from stoic patience to overt anger--that linger in her mind. When Kaden tells her, as he often does, that he wants to be a pilot when he grows up, she listens intently, knowing that without a cure, that option will not be open to him. Such thoughts have impassioned Kaden's family to do whatever they can to find a cure. In the meantime, Kaden, now 7, has been growing up fast. He likes playing football with his dad, skateboarding, snowboarding, and bicycle riding. His favorite school subjects are science and math, and he played a sheepdog in the school play. He also has a real dog and hopes to be a veterinarian one day.
