Brent from Arkansas
Age: 14Profile:

Diagnosed at age three, Brent uses an insulin pump to manage his disease, which he finds especially helpful since he is very active. He has hiked to the top of the Grand Teton in two days, and loves to play golf, bike ride, and play football. Brent already knows exactly what he wants to do when he grows up—he wants to be a pilot in the Air Force. He enjoys flying airplanes with his grandfather. Brent has spoken to more than 500 people at an American Gem Society event, which inspired a $50,000 donation to JDRF. He also has participated in the JDRF Walk since 2001—his team, Brent’s Buddies, has raised more than $100,000. He would like to share his story with Members of Congress and encourage them to continue to fund research.
