Joseph from Alaska
Profile:

Joseph, 9, is the second among three siblings to be diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, and the second Children's Congress delegate in his family. Big sister Amanda was the 2005 delegate from Alaska. An outdoor enthusiast, Joseph loves cross-country running and skiing, but blood sugar swings have kept him from completing races and have compromised his ski lessons. He's glad that technology has improved even since his sister was diagnosed; and until a cure is found, he's anxious to have an advanced pump-sensor. Joseph, diagnosed more than a year ago, is in a TrialNet study to help find a cure for diabetes. "I want Congress to spend more money on research," he says, "so there is a cure before my little brother gets it too."
