Sam Bearman: A Cure is Everything
A cure for diabetes, to me, is everything. If I could wish for anything in the world, it would be to be cured. If I was cured, I wouldn’t have to test my blood sugar, give myself insulin, or worry about foods that I eat. My parents wouldn’t have to wake up in the middle of the night to check me. Overall, life would be a lot easier. I could just be a normal kid. I wouldn’t have to worry about dying early, going blind, and amputations. In Washington, D.C., I hope to increase funding for diabetes research so we can find a cure now. I think that every kid in the world with diabetes deserves a cure. A lot of people don’t know how hard it is to be diabetic, because of the way we look. I think it is important that the Congress and Senate hear our stories so we can change their perception of diabetes.
